Janice has a strong background in Design, having worked in Advertising and Graphic Designs Studios in London UK, Toronto and Vancouver. She studied Graphic Design at Fanshawe College in London Ont. She grew up in what was a small town of Ajax in Ontario and moved to Vancouver in the 80’s.
Janice started painting under the guidance of Linda Jones (lindajonesstudio) in Ladner, BC about 15 years ago. Linda also introduced her to encaustic and with further instruction from Megan MacDonald (crowsnestartstudio). Her love of the medium was born. Janice enjoys working with the medium and finds it very versatile with some very surprising results. She is still exploring encaustic and discovering the many different applications of it. Janice also paints in acrylics and oils, cold wax medium and does assemblage with her twin sister Judy Jones.
Janice lives in Sooke on Vancouver Island with her husband, 1 dog, and 2 cats. She and her husband are prolific travelers and love nothing more than exploring the world – preferable off the beaten track. Along with vintage cars, Janice enjoys painting boats, trucks, and natural settings: she is inspired by what she captures from her travels. Janice is a member of South Shore Gallery in Sooke BC and Coast Collective in Colwood on Vancouver Island.
